South African Football Association (Safa) president Danny Jordaan has dismissed rumours that Hugo Broos wanted to resign as Bafana Bafana coach.

Last week, reports emerged that Broos resigned a day after Bafana claimed the bronze medal at Afcon.

“It’s absolute nonsense to say the coach has resigned. He returned to South Africa earlier this week and is hard at work with the team’s technical staff to prepare for the national team’s matches later this month,” said Jordaan.

“We are dealing with saboteurs who want to derail South African football. These people are not happy that our teams Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana have been successful.

“These diversionary tactics are aimed to disrupt our progress and we have had to cope with these elements for the past few months.

“The latest disruption is spreading rumours that Safa’s CEO (Lydia Monyepao) has resigned. It is a blatant lie,” he said as per IOL.

HAWKS RAID SAFA HEADQUARTERS AMID FRAUD AND CORRUPTOIN ALLEGATIONS

SAFA headquarters were raided by the Hawks on Friday while executing search and seizure warrants at the organisation’s offices. The raid was part of an investigation into fraud and corruption allegations aimed at executives involving over R1.3 million.

The Hawks claim the funds in question were used by a SAFA executive member for their own personal gain. According to SAPS spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale, the crimes in question was said to have occured between 2014 and 2018.

SAFA has since released an official statement in response to the allegations made by the Hawks. The organisation vehemently denied the alegations and labeled the raid on their premises as ‘unlawful and mailicious.

While some have defended Danny Jordaan amid the allegations, the Hawks remain confident in their investigation following the raid.

“The president is also reported to have violated SAFA statutes thus prejudicing SAFA an actual loss of R1.3 million.

“During the search, a laptop, external hard drives, a USB and documents were seized.” Mogale said.
