Star striker Evidence Makgopa is a major doubt for the Buccaneers. The Bafana Bafana attacker missed his side’s midweek clash against Cape Town Spurs through injury and is set to miss out this afternoon too.

“The hosts go into the derby sweating over the availability of striker Evidence Makgopa, who remains doubtful after sitting out the game against Spurs due to a knock picked up shortly after netting the winner in last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Polokwane City,” an Orlando Pirates club statement read.

Action at the FNB Stadium is scheduled to begin at 15:30. The match will be televised live on SuperSport PSL as well as SABC1. Fans have been advised to arrive early at the stadium.

WE CHASING CAF FOOTBALL -JOHNSON

“That’s one of the club objectives (returning to Africa). It has been for a while. If we are able to do this on Saturday, it will just give us a lot more to play for, so that we can end up as high as we can in the league,” Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson said as quoted by IOL.

“I think there’s still about 11 games left. So, if we do get a positive result tomorrow, which we are hoping for, it will put us in a good position going forward.

“Duba has been planning for this for the last three years. He’s been preparing himself mentally to play a derby against Orlando Pirates with Kaizer Chiefs. For me, the excitement of Wandile coming in and scoring is not new, but it would be very new if he came in and scored a goal in the Soweto derby.”
