Springboks: ‘We’re 100% behind you Bafana’

The Springboks have joined in the celebrations after Bafana remarkably sent tournament favourites Morocco packing from AFCON

South Africa as a nation is currently on a wicked winning streak and Bafana Bafana have finally joined the likes of the Springboks by contributing big time on the sporting front.

Bafana Bafana went into their last 16 AFCON clash against the Moroccans as underdogs, but the national soccer team produced one of its all time greatest performances to stun the North Africans 2-0 and thus advancing to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The result not only sent shock waves through to continent, but put South Africans from all walks of life in a celebratory mood, with many taking to social media to their their joy at Bafana’s display much like they did during the Springboks’ epic World Cup playoff run back in October.

Not to be left behind, the Springboks too shared in the joyous occasion courtesy of Bafana. The official Springboks social media accounts congratulated Hugo Broos’ side with a heartfelt message, while several individual Bok players and a former coach also comment proudly on the victory.

“Congratulations Bafana Bafana on last night’s great victory at the Africa Cup of Nations and best of luck for the quarter-final on Saturday, we are 100% behind you,” the Springboks wrote on their official Twitter account.

Former coach Jacques Nienaber, who is now coaching Leinster, should his loyalty to South Africa when he shared a picture of himself watching the game on a cellphone in a hotel room in the United Kingdom.

“Well done Bafana Bafana. Supporting you from the UK. It might not be a 100 inch TV but worth every second of viewing.”

Springbok prop Ox Nche was also vocal throughout the riveting match, and by the end simply tweeted: “Nou weet hulle” and later added “The year of the underdogs. Hello Quarterfinals.”
