Thembinkosi Lorch set for Mamelodi Sundowns debut

Orlando Pirates fans had to first deal with the news of Thembinkosi Lorch moving to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

This weekend’s events could be even more challenging for Pirates supporters.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SIGN THEMBINKOSI LORCH FROM ORLANDO PIRATES

To prepare for the CAF Champions League deep stages, Sundowns made the daring move to prise Lorch from the Soweto giants last month.

Pirates confirmed Lorch’s departure to Sundowns last Friday. “Thembinkosi Lorch is to leave Orlando Pirates Football Club after a discussion between the Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza and the Mamelodi Sundowns hierarchy,” Pirates stated.

“The Club thanks “Nyoso” for his immense contribution by adding another page in the history of the Club.

“We wish him and his family well in his future sporting pursuit,” Pirates concluded.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS DEBUT

With the Premier Soccer League deciding to postpone the midweek fixtures due to Bafana Bafana’s late return from Afcon 2023, Pirates and Sundowns set up an interesting script.

Sundowns were due to face Golden Arrows, but the changed schedule means the first match for the second round will be against Pirates this weekend.

This means that Lorch is set to mark his Sundowns debut against his former club at the Loftus Versveld on Saturday at 20:00.
