MSC Poesia to call at three South African ports this year

As part of its World Cruise 2024, the MSC Poesia will be calling at three South African ports for the first time ever.

MSC POESIA WORLD CRUISE TO VISIT SOUTH AFRICA

Three South African ports, Durban, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Cape Town are set to welcome MSC Cruises’ World Cruise on board the MSC Poesia to South Africa this year.

According to Ross Volk, MD of MSC Cruises South Africa, MSC Poesia will brings with her over 2 000 foreign visitors to South African shores. This is set to have an immense impact on the local economies of Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Cape Town.

MSC Poesia calling, not just in South Africa, but other African ports as part of her journey, is a significant vote of confidence in the capacity and structures of these destinations,” Volk said.

The ship is due to call on these South African ports later this February.

WORLD CRUISE ITINERARY

As per Cruise Industry News, the massive vessel began the 2024 World Cruise on 5 January, departing from Italy on a 120-night itinerary.

From then until early May, the ship will visit a total of 52 destinations in 31 different countries and territories.

The itinerary will focus on African destinations as well this year, with the ship set to sail to several unique destinations in East, West and Southern Africa. These less-than-usual stops will include Senegal, Tanzania, Kenya, the Seychelles, Madagascar and Mozambique.

LUXE RESIDENTIAL YACHT THE WORLD TO ALSO VISIT SA

The World, the largest privately owned residential mega yacht on the planet, also recently announced that it will be calling on three of South Africa’s ports for an extended visit during its 2024 journey to six continents.

The ship will arrive in South Africa this month, after an expedition to Antarctica in January and South America during early February.

The yacht will first visit Cape Town, a much-favoured destination among the residents.

The ship will then sail along the South African coast, spending time in Mossel Bay before sailing on to Durban.

From there, the chance to spot Africa’s “big five” in the wild bushveld awaits at Phinda Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal.
