Dragon Ball manga and anime creator Akira Toriyama has died at the age of 68.

The Japanese writer produced one of the most influential and best-selling mangas of all time, which is Dragon Ball.

On Friday, the news broke out that Toriyama suffered an acute subdural hematoma, a type of bleeding near the brain.

The 68-year-old created characters that have become a part of many people’s childhoods.

“He would have many more things to achieve. However, he has left many manga titles and works of art to this world,” the Dragon Ball website said in a statement

“We hope that Akira Toriyama’s unique world of creation continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come.”

Toriyama was born in Nagoya, Japan in 1955, as per BBC.

He made his name in the comic book industry in the early 1980s with Dr. Slump.

TORIYAMA IS KNOWN FOR THE DRAGON BALL MANGA SERIES

His famous work came in 1984 when he launched the Dragon Ball manga series. Its sequel, DBZ became bigger and reached popularity in the mid-90s and early 2000s after it was adapted into anime.

After hearing about Toriyama’s passing, millions of fans have paid tribute to the Japanese legend.

In Dragon Ball, Toriyama tells a story about a young boy named Goku, who goes on an adventure with friends to collect magical dragon balls.

Later in the series, Goku becomes an adult and his primary goal is to protect the Earth from danger.
