Watch what happens when South African passengers on a flight from Durban to Joburg are told their plane has been turned back due to a storm over Joburg.

Passenger Thabo Seopa filmed the scene as the passengers burst out into song, singing R. Kelly’s “I believe I can fly”.

The incident happened on Monday 16 November on the 13:20 flight from Durban.

“The plane got turned back twice because of the storm…which was beyond overdue as we’re suffering a massive drought, the worst in 100 years,” said Thabo’s friend Glynda Norwitz Kramer.

“This is how the passengers handled the situation! Makes me so happy to be South African.”

Thabo and the rest of the passengers finally landed safely in Joburg six hours later at 19.20.
