Comedy Central has announced the debut date for South African comedian Trevor Noah to take over The Daily Show in the USA.

The 31-year-old will debut as host of the Emmy® and Peabody® Award-winning show on 28 September. Its current popular host, Jon Stewart, will have his final broadcast on 6 August.

The two men collaborated on a brilliant, and short, video to make the official announcement showing that until The Daily Show with Trevor Noah premieres, Trevor’s getting rather comfortable in Jon’s chair. (Watch Video above for larger version.)

The South African posted a message on social media saying “Daily Show. September 28. 2015. Let’s make it a date. (It’s already a date but let’s make it our date.)”

Trevor, who grew up in Soweto,  and has performed in front of sold-out crowds from the Hammersmith Apollo in London to the Sydney Opera House in Australia, was appointed a contributor of The Daily Show in 2014…within just two years of making his US television debut in 2012 on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ and later on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ (see playlist below).

He has hosted several TV shows, including his own late-night talk show in South Africa, “Tonight with Trevor Noah.”
