Olly Barratt, a TV and radio correspondent based in London, sent several tweets from the history-making match between South Africa and Japan yesterday.

At the end of the nailbiting match he posted a video of the scene in the stadium (see below), and then, upon leaving the grounds, he wrote: “Amazing from SA fans as we leave Brighton, congratulating Japan supporters for their team’s performance, shaking their hands. #RSAvJPN.”

It was enough to make one feel very #ProudlySouthAfrican.

But it didn’t end there. Fifteen minutes later he posted the Tweet that’s gone viral: “Train pulls into Brighton, SA fans insist Japan supporters get off first, give them a guard of honour and cheer them off. Amazing day.”

Isn’t that awesome? #GoBokkeFans! And judging from most of the messages received by SAPeople, Bok fans are not giving up on their team…

Messages of support from SAPeople Bokke fans:

Sinead Colyn‎ in Ballyclare, United Kingdom:

“Go Bokke ?????? Win or lose. I still support South Africa number 1!!!”

Springbok fan

Lindie Marshall‎ & Family:

Narendra Rangi Singh‎:

Suzanne Styles‎:

“I took a little time out this morning and had a little fun. Walt Whitman, I apologise for adapting your beautiful words to suit my purpose. In my 20+ years in advertising I had the privilege of being able to support the Boks in a very personal way. Although I’m not in the industry anymore, I still support them all the way.

Let’s get behind the Boks, let’s start a movement of positive energy towards the team, the management and support staff. #HomeGroundAdvantage #RWC2015…”
