Take a look at the powerful waves during Equinox this weekend, crashing onto the shores of East London, South Africa. The pictures of the phenomenal surf were taken by photographer Mike Geyer.

As Mike says it only happens twice a year, and the waves were HUGE. “It was dramatic and exciting… I could’ve spent all afternoon watching these enormous waves rolling back and forth onto the rocks.
”Blessed to see nature performing in such a spectacular, incredible and amazing show of power.”

Mike ended up taking 455 pictures of the surf! See more of his photos here:

Exquisite pictures — As much as waves like these thrill immeasurably — they also fill every sense with a raw and naked awe, stir the soul to deep humbleness, when one has the rare privilege to witness the fearsome and incredible magnificence of their power. Thank you …
