The bodies of murdered retired farmers Daniel (Danie) Brand, 82, and wife Hybrecht (Breggie), 73, have been found by police searchers about 10km away from the body of their daughter Elizabeth (Elzabie), 53.
All three are believed to have been attacked and kidnapped on Sunday at the smallholding where Elzabie’s parents lived in Hartswater in the Northern Cape, South Africa. Elzabie had apparently visited them for Sunday lunch.
It appears the three family members had been beaten and terrorised in their home (where blood stains were found on Monday) and were then abducted and driven off in their own cars before they were taken somewhere quiet in the bush and each murdered.
Elzabie was found a 30 minute drive from the farm, and her parents a 40 minute drive from the farm.
The body of Elzabie was found early on Tuesday by a searcher with a drone, and her parents’ bodies were found at 4pm today, Tuesday 28 July 2020.
Three men and a woman are currently under arrest in connection with the horrific kidnapping and murder of the elderly couple and their daughter which has rocked South Africa with its brutality. Read more about the Brand family farm attack, abduction and murders here.
Father-of-three Danie, ran a water production scheme on their smallholding that supplied the local area.
Breggie went to school in England according to her Facebook page, but moved to South Africa after she finished her education.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) which mobilised a 72-hour Activation Plan including an intense multi-team search, confirmed on Tuesday evening: “Police have earlier this afternoon recovered the bodies of the 83 and 79-year-old couple in a veld in Takaneng Village. A sixth suspect, aged 36 years, has also been arrested bringing the total to five the number suspects arrested in connection with this case.”
