To the disappointment of his fans back home, the South African expat didn’t wear anything locally produced…  but by wearing a Balmain suit, Trevor is still supporting Africa!

Balmain’s Creative Director – Olivier Rousteing – said all the custom pieces worn by he and his guests at the 2018 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit (Met Gala) will be auctioned off for (RED) – at IfOnly.com/RED – with proceeds going to the Global Fund to support the quest to end AIDS in Africa.

Olivier’s other guests wearing one-of-a-kind, custom Balmain designs on the red carpet last night included Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, Natalia Vodianova, Natasha Poly, Juliette Binoche and Julia Stegner.

“The numbers are shocking,” said Rousteing. “Today, there are over 16 million children worldwide who have lost a parent to AIDS. Most of them live in Sub-Saharan Africa, where the disease is the largest killer of adults. That hits close to home. Having spent my earliest years in an orphanage, there are few things that can affect me as much as the struggles of a vulnerable child.”

To date, (RED) has generated more than $500 million for the Global Fund, which fights AIDS in Africa.
