The South African National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete has condemned the recent killings of women and children in South Africa.

The speaker urged politicians and the public to be united and fight against the killing of women and children.

“We must find partnerships in government and within the political arena and fight this issue of gender-based violence,” said Mbete.

According to local reports, she also encouraged politicians to join forces and put their differences aside and work together.

The speaker was speaking at a national healing prayer in Tembisa on Friday, which was held in response to the increasing murders of women and children in South Africa.
