SUPERSPORT UNITED STAR IME OKON MOVING TO MIDTJYLLAND IN DENMARK?

As confirmed by the club’s CEO Stan Matthews on 13 January, the 20-year-old South African-Nigerian central defender, with 22 league appearances, left for Denmark to show his talent at Midtjylland.

“He has been doing very well there, he’s still very young so there’s no pressure on him. And we’re not looking to move him [now],” Matthews said to FARPost.

“But we did want to give him an opportunity and it’s a big club like Midtjylland. You know they play [UEFA] Champions League and Europa League.

“So, when they showed interest in him, we certainly didn’t want to block that opportunity for him to go and train and play a little bit. And he’ll grow all the time and he will be a big money move certainly in the next two years for sure.

“He will progress rapidly if he keeps his head like it’s been from the start of his career. If he keeps his discipline and listening, then for sure he is going to play in Europe.

“It’s not just an assessment, they are interested in him but we wanted him to train at that level. And we will assess what they think of him when he gets back,” the SuperSport big boss concluded.

In what is the latest update, reports say SuperSport have began to talk final business to transfer Okon on Midtjylland.

“SuperSport United are negotiating a potential deal for defender Ime Okon to join Danish side FC Midtjylland, ” iDiski Times’ Robin-Duke Madlala reported.
