Orlando Pirates have added a new tool in their arsenal as they sharpen their defence by signing a promising young defender.

Orlando Pirates have a new right-back, and it’s a young and promising player from the club’s development structures!

Jabulani Mokone has officially been promoted to the Pirates senior team after doing brilliantly well in DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team.

The news of Mokone’s promotion to the first team was confirmed by his coach Joseph ‘Duku Duku’ Makhanya.

Makhanya revealed that Mokone has spent some time training with the Pirates first team, before confirming his promotion.

ORLANDO PIRATES PROMOTE YOUNG RIGHT-BACK

“He is spending time with first team,” said Makhanya as per iDiski Times.

“We feeling like he has done enough to be given a chance at first team so we hoping that he will continue learning so that he can be a better player.

“So, yes, he has been promoted,” he concluded.

MOKONE FOLLOWS IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF MONYANE

In earning himself a first team contract, Mokone has followed in the footsteps of Thabiso Monyane who was also promoted from the DDC team.

Interestingly, the pair will compete with each other for a place in Jose Riveiro’s starting line-up alongside Bandile Shandu.
