Springboks to name team on Wednesday: Is this the matchday 23?

The Springboks will next face Romania at the Rugby World Cup, and the matchday squad will be named on Wednesday night.

The Springboks had Monday off to rest and recover from the physical World Cup encounter against Scotland, and will begin their on-field preparations for the match against Romania in Bordeaux on Tuesday.

Lock Eben Etzebeth could be sidelined for seven to 10 days after leaving the field against Scotland with a shoulder injury, and there are expected to be several rotational changes to the matchday squad for this encounter.

It also does offer up some opportunities for ‘back-up’ players to make their mark, while offering all-important rest to frontlines stars.
