NORTH WEST – Police in Morokweng opened an inquest docket for investigation after three children aged four, five and six were on Wednesday, 18 November 2020, tragically found dead in an abandoned car at Botsalano village near Morokweng in the North West province, South Africa.

According to reports, the grandmother left the children in the yard at approximately 10h00 to attend a funeral service in the same village. She returned home over five hours later, at about 15h30 and found the children’s lifeless bodies inside an old and unused vehicle that was parked in the yard.

Of the three children, two of them (Thabo and Thoriso Mohibidu) were brother and sister while the six-year-old (Bokao Sheleng), was their friend and neighbour.

The South African Police Service said in a statement: “Members of the community and parents are urged to take proper care of their children to avoid tragic incidents such as this one, and another one that occurred on Saturday, 14 November 2020, in Mammutla village, Taung where three children were found dead inside a freezer.”

An investigation into the tragic incident is underway, said SAPS.
