‘Water’ hitmaker Tyla has once again impressed her fellow Mzansi netizens with her authenticity and patrioticism.

South African singing sensation Tyla Laura Seethal, affectionately known as Tyla, has been making waves in America for her chart-topping hit, Water.

The Johannesburg-born songstress has been lauded by a number of South Africans on social media for being authentic self during interviews, include her recent interview with US radio host and actor, Big Boy on his Big Boy TV podcast.

TYLA IS A HUGE PAP LOVER

During the interview, which was released on Wednesday 29 November, Tyla spoke about her viral “Water” dance challenge on Tik Tok, getting an Instagram follow from Drake, and touring with Chris Brown. The 21-year-old also discussed her GRAMMY nomination, attending Fashion Week, and her love for South African food.

Towards the end of the 22-minute-long interview, the musician was asked what she misses most about Mzansi when she’s away

“The food,” she said. “Yoooh, hhayi. I travel with big pap [maize meal] from South Africa so I can make it wherever I go.”

Tyla also explained what pap is and shared that she is a picky-eater so she has to have good food that reminds her of home.

“I don’t really like a lot of food. Like, American foot is cool, but hhayi, South African food is the best, in my opinion,” she added.
