JOHANNESBURG – Proudly South Africa has launched a #MeetTheLocals campaign as part of their “buy local” drive… and one of the first companies to be introduced is BMW.

In a series of #MeetTheLocals tweets over the past two days Proudly SA has introduced BMW, and applauded the company for:

  • being the first @BMWGroup plant to be established outside of Germany.
  • recently producing its 1 millionth 3 Series sedan at the Rosslyn plant.
  • investing R6 billion to start building the @BMW_SA X3 in South Africa and phase out the 3 Series by 2019… which leads to #JobCreation…
  • creating over 3,600 direct jobs and about 12,000 more through supporting of suppliers of vehicle parts.

BMW was founded in Munich, Germany, 100 years ago on 7 March 1916, and celebrates its centenary this year (see video at the bottom).

Proudly SA Marketing Officer, Happy maKhumalo Ngidi, gave a presentation on the #MeetTheLocals campaign today at a Women of Substance gathering in Johannesburg… where many of the women – including MC Leanne Manas – were “rocking a doek”!
